Ladies, here's an idea. Get hold of a couple of girlfriends and plan a trip.
And to help you out, the Travel Section will tell you about a book to make the best of the trip. And maybe you'll get it for free.
Best Girlfriends Getaways Worldwide is a National Geographic publication from Random House of Canada Limited.
It's all about exotic escapes, culinary classes, spa trips, cosmopolitan junkets and more.
Chapters include Castles Fit for a Queen, Floating Fantasies, Tasteful Travel and Lending a Hand. The Minneapolis Star Tribune described it as "a very personal and unusual book, full of great warmth and intimacy.''
The book is by Marybeth Bond, the author of 50 Best Girlfriends Getaways in North America. It is 272 pages (no pictures) and costs $18.95. And it's yours for free if you are the 25th reader to e-mail the Travel Section at travelcontest@freepress.mb.ca .
We'll arrange for delivery.
And congratulations to Lindy C. who won last week's book, Green Travel.
The show must go on
After receiving rave reviews from last year's successful theatre tour, long-time CBC Radio host Ron Robinson returns to London for a week of unforgettable theatre from Oct. 29 to Nov. 6.
The trip includes return airfare, transfers, seven night's hotel with breakfast, services of a Trafalgar Tour guide, backstage theatre tour, several dinners and the best available seats for your choice of three great shows.
The feedback from participants of the tour was overwhelmingly positive:
"We had a wonderful time. There was an excellent balance of programmed events and free time. The comment I heard most often on the trip was how well-planned everything was. The Trafalgar Tour's guide did a very good job leading and directing us with informative and humourous dialogue and Ron and Carol's in depth knowledge of London was invaluable."
"We really enjoyed the trip! The seats were fantastic; we didn't expect to be so close to the front of the theatre! The drop- offs and pick-ups on theatre nights worked out very well and our tour director was very helpful. Thanks for all your hard work! Our foursome especially felt we got more then we expected from such a short stay and it is a tour we would certainly love to do again."
For more information, call Glenn at International Travel, 934-6454, and join Ron, Trafalgar Tours and International Travel for an information evening Thursday, May 15 at McNally Robinson Grant Park at 7:30 p.m.
You've never really seen theatre until you've seen it in London!
