Health officials have not found any mosquitoes infected with West Nile virus this summer.
The number of Culex tarsalis -- the species that can carry West Nile virus -- has increased slightly in the last week, but the numbers are low in most Manitoba communities and the risk of contracting West Nile is lower than it has been in previous years.
The risk may increase over the next week with warmer weather, but to date, no human cases of the virus have been reported in the 2008 season.
