Two girls charged in destructive rampage

WINNIPEG police have arrested two girls in connection with a rampage that caused more than $200,000 damage to houses under construction on John Mann Place near Harbourview Park.

On May 2 between 8 and 10 p.m., suspects went to a house in the 100 block where several homes are under construction. They broke into the house and caused more than $3,000 in damage by kicking holes in drywall and smashing windows.

They went to nearby house and lit a fire causing an estimated $200,000 damage and another $10,000 damage to the house next door.

The police arson strike force investigated the incidents and arrested a 12-year-old and a 14-year-old. Both girls have been charged with arson and break and enter.
