VANCOUVER -- Vancouver's bomb squad was flown into Williams Lake Sunday afternoon to examine two bags suspected of containing "bomb-like material" in an incident that has evacuated the airport and cancelled several flights.
Williams Lake Mayor Scott Nelson said Sunday at 3 p.m. that the bomb squad was within minutes of touching town in the city, which has no such unit of its own.
Nelson said a Seattle woman in her 40s has been detained after security screeners spotted the suspicious packages and called 911.

Boy drowns in hotel pool
MONTREAL -- A 12-year-old boy drowned in a hotel pool in Montreal even though a lifeguard was on duty at the time. Jean-Gardy Bienvenue was found unconscious at the bottom of the outdoor pool of a Holiday Inn in the Montreal borough of St-Laurent around 8:25 p.m. on Saturday.
Attempts to revive him were unsuccessful and he was later confirmed dead at a downtown hospital.
Cybercrusade launched
OTTAWA -- Critics of the Harper government's proposed changes to the Copyright Act have launched a cyber crusade to fight the controversial bill.
They want the government to either scrap or make serious amendments to Bill C-61 when Parliament resumes next month. If passed, Bill C-61 would make it illegal to circumvent "digital locks" on CDs and DVDs and impose a $500 fine on anyone caught downloading illegal copies of music or movies.
