District 8 Fire Chief John Manning said "we have no idea where it actually started. The homeowners were in the backyard and they exited the house and called 911."

The garage at the front of 7 Stardust Cres. and two vehicles were destroyed.

Damage to the structure was estimated at $220,00, with another $180,000 in smoke damage on the main floor and in the basement.

The arson team is investigating.

"They're the nicest neighbours. They're good people. I have no idea how it started," Liz Dubicki said.

She arrived home at about 4:45 p.m. and saw smoke and flames coming out of the garage.

"Our biggest concern was to get the people out. Thank God they're OK."

"It's a very sad situation," she said.

The homeowner, who did not want to give his name, said, "It's just going to be a nightmare and a headache."
