E.coli levels have returned to normal at Gimli Beach, the province said today.
E.coli counts were briefly above the guideline at Gimli Beach on June 27, but quickly returned to below the normal level by June 30, Manitoba Water Stewardship said.
The spike in E.coli counts was likely caused by high winds and waves that led to bacteria being washed out of beach sand and into the water.
Algae testing at Hillside Beach on Lake Winnipeg on July 2 found the number of blue-green algae cells and the concentration of toxins were well below recreational water guidelines.
