The South Beach Casino and Resort on the Brokenhead First Nation will go smoke-free tomorrow when it opens an additional 300 game devices.
The casino, 30 minutes north of Winnipeg, will also open a poker room tomorrow.
This is the second addition to the casino since it opened in May 2005, and will add 10,000 square feet of space to the casino floor.
"The fact we have expanded twice in three short years speaks to the outstanding success of our operation," said Furlon Barker, chair of the South Beach ownership group. "We provide exceptional customer service and superior entertainment value, and Manitobans are clearly liking our approach."
The casino will also become a smoke-free facility as of tomorrow, so as to create a more pleasant gaming environment and help protect the health of clients and staff.
Meanwhile, work is continuing on the adjacent $20 million hotel and resort complex, and is expected to be complete by August. Exterior finishing is now under way, interior drywall is nearly complete, and kitchen equipment is being installed.
The 95-room hotel will feature an art deco theme, pool with waterfall, 5,000 square foot ballroom and meeting facility.
