LOS ANGELES - Actor Dennis Farina has apologized for his weapons-related arrest at Los Angeles International Airport.
The 64-year-old actor and former cop was arrested yesterday morning after a loaded gun was found in his carry-on luggage.
He was released last night after posting $35,000 bail.
Farina issued a statement overnight that reads, "I apologize to anyone and everyone that I have caused any embarrassment or inconvenience to. It is my own stupidity to find myself in this embarrassing situation."
When the weapon was discovered at a security checkpoint, police claim Farina told them he'd forgotten the .22-calibre handgun was in his luggage.
Farina was booked for investigation of carrying a concealed weapon.
But Sergeant Dennis Beacham says when police discovered the weapon was not registered, the charge was upgraded to a felony and Farina's bail was increased.
Farina's latest film, the Ashton Kutcher-Cameron Diaz comedy What Happens in Vegas, opened Friday.
Farina has starred in T-V's Law & Order series, and in such movies as Snatch and Get Shorty.
The actor is also a former Chicago police officer.
